Description
Framed “alpona” painting by artist from Santiniketan, West Bengal.
The alpona demonstrates the representation drawn by indigenous people on walls to invoke the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, into their homes. The outermost layer demonstrates ‘Jharbati kolachori’, the next layer represents “Shyamlota” followed by motifs of “Ashtadal Padma”, “Lakshmi Narayan”, “Lokkhi pecha”, “Gorur gari” and other traditonal motifs.
