Description
Evey traditional Alpona artwork of Bengal has a story behind it. During Kojagori Lakshmi Puja in the Bengali month of Shravan, the idol is placed over this design. It features a lotus flower at it’s centre, the corners are adorned with sheaves of paddy and pinwheel flowers, reflecting the festive spirit of Bengal. The decorative border represents the flowing waves of the Ganga and Jamuna rivers, adding a sense of movement and cultural symbolism to the composition. Hand-painted in traditional white on an earthy brown background, this distinctive folk-art piece brings together ritual, symbolism, and the enduring beauty of Bengal’s artistic heritage.
A meaningful decorative piece that brings warmth, cultural heritage, and handcrafted character to both contemporary and traditional interiors.
