Description

Tussar dupatta hand woven in rust-dyed silk by artisans from Chhattisgarh, India.

“The dupatta has been hand woven by the ‘khapa’ technique of inserting extra weft in a simple geometric pattern either in the border, pallu or motifs across the body of the dupatta. The wooden tool called ‘khapa’ which is flat and smooth is inserted into the warp threads as per the placement, size and width of the motif. The ‘khapa’ is lifted to raise those particular warp threads every time manually to add the extra weft hence forming the motif/pattern.”
