Binoy Kumar Shaw is a 44 year old artist based in Kolkata. Since his childhood, he has loved painting. Because of unfortunate family situations, he couldn’t find proper tools for painting which is why he started painting on anything he could find, at the back of calendars, on floors with chalk. He couldn’t afford a tutor back then so he drew and painted as he wished. This enabled his imagination to flourish instead of getting confined to the norms. It was at this point in his childhood that started experiencing, in his own words, “a hide-and-seek between the artist and art”. He believes that there is art within everything in the world and an artist’s work is to unveil those. Though he loves painting all sorts of things, a particular object that catches his fancy are cars! He derives analogies between the sound, mechanism, movements of cars to those of humans. He thinks every artist finds art within the things that fascinate them the most.

That’s why, from his childhood he has only played one game i.e. “Hide and Seek between the Artist and Art”.
